To officially mark the launch of the 2015 Ham Season, commuters travelling through the busy Warrens area on Monday, November 2nd were greeted by De Pomposetters tuk band performing as free ham cutters (sandwiches) were given away, thanks to Barbadian owned brand, Farmer’s Choice. Commuters at several other points on the island including Fontabelle, Collymore Rock and Bay Street were also able to enjoy free ham cutters.
Firmly established as an annual Barbadian tradition, Ham Season was officially launched on November 1st, and runs throughout the festive December season until New Year’s Day, January 1st.
Mischa Knight, Sales and Marketing Manager at Hipac Limited, manufacturers of Farmer’s Choice commented, “Ham Season is a really exciting time for us. To mark the occasion this year, we wanted to celebrate by giving back and offering busy commuters free ham cutters. Early morning traffic can be very frustrating, so we hope that this helped to brighten everyone’s Monday. For many years tuk music has been an integral part of the Farmer’s Choice jingle and as the start of Ham Season coincides with the start of the month of our Nation’s independence, we decided to add the tuk band performance to this year’s activity and this was extremely well received”.
Ms. Knight added that Farmer’s Choice prides itself in continuing to support the Barbadian pig farming industry by purchasing locally grown pork throughout the year. Farmer’s Choice offers a wide variety of hams catering to all tastes and preferences, including the traditional bone-in picnic and leg hams, chilled ham and boneless Black Forest and Turkey ham.
