This year’s Crop Over Season was like none before for CGG Barbados. During the final week of the festival, the team catered to several events including Soca Royale, The Beach House Premium All Inclusive fete and the Extra-ordinary Bliss Event. Catering to some 6,000 guests over four (4) days, kept team members on their toes, as the culinary pace mirrored that of a catering marathon.
The week commenced with catering for the Gildan Team at the Soca Royale Event held on 26th July, 2015 at The Bushy Park Racing Circuit. The team offered five (5) meal variations to 320 persons. These included a Bajan Buffet, Soca Hotdogs, Sugar Cane Burgers, Carnival Rotis and the authentic rum and wine dessert station. The team thought that it would end there…on the contrary, they opened with an official ‘George Ramsey Drinks Off’ competition which comprised two (2) mixologists and three (3) bartenders.
The crowd was enthused, the tone was set, drawing attention away from Peter Ram’s “All Ah We” to their main event…it was party time. At the end of the event, Team Gildan complimented the team with raving reviews for a job well done.
At this time Team GCG Barbados was excited. For them the show had now begun; the next event was The Beach House Premium All Inclusive Fete held on 30th July, 2015 at Colleton Great House, St. Peter. The team had to be on top of our game, as the expectations were even higher. The team partnered with three (3) other chefs to set the stage for a variety of culinary delights.
As the crowd gathered to try GCG's international cuisine from their five (5) different live stations, their choices ranged from the Authentic Tiger Prawns to their local Sweet Potato Mash, to unusual Paella. Even though it was an acquired taste, it was a hit. As the chefs blended their culinary skills to produce the Roast Pork with Sweet Potato and Pineapple Ball, more people savoured this station with welcomed reviews.
At the end of this event the organisers were amazed at the quality and standard provided and said ‘job well done’. GCG stood behind its brand of “Simply Outstanding”.
GCG Barbados' Grand Finale was next, the Extra-ordinary Bliss Event on 1st August, 2015. With 3,200 persons in attendance the atmosphere at ‘A Touch of Eden, Belle Plantation’, represented upscale entertainment. Our guests were offered a variation of three (3) stations encompassing a Sandwich Bar, Little Italy and our Noodle Bar. They were a hit with the patrons as they could not move fast enough to quench their culinary appetites. This resulted in GCG Barbados' stations being the crowd favourites.
At the end of the event, the organisers' reviews were “the food was excellent” “unique “and “surpassing our expectations”. With reviews like that GCG can only get better.
Great Work Team!!
